Dr Mark Inglis is an orthopaedic surgeon specialising in treatment of hip and knee conditions including arthritis, joint replacements, meniscal tears, sports injuries and revisions. Dr Inglis has extensive experience in modern techniques including direct anterior (minimally invasive) approach hip replacement and robotic assisted knee replacement.

After completing orthopaedic surgery training in South Australia he undertook additional training in anterior hip replacement and robotic knee replacement both nationally and internationally.

He is the former Head of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Repatriation General Hospital and former Director of Arthroplasty Services for SALHN. In addition to clinical practice he is a senior lecturer with Flinders University with research into the learning curve of the anterior approach to hip surgery and of improving patient outcomes post total joint replacement. He has also trained many orthopaedic surgeons both nationally and internationally who have come to Adelaide to further advance their skills under his tutelage.

Direct Anterior Hip Replacement
A surgical approach to total hip replacement performed from the front of the hip. This technique works between muscles rather than detaching them and may support early mobilisation and rehabilitation following surgery.

Robotic Knee Replacement

During your consultation, Dr Inglis will discuss your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals. He will perform a clinical assessment and review any imaging or investigations. Based on this evaluation, Dr Inglis will explain appropriate treatment options, including both surgical and non-surgical approaches, to help you make an informed decision about your care.

Consultation

Dr Inglis will review your symptoms, medical history, and imaging, and discuss how your hip or knee condition is affecting your daily activities. He will outline appropriate treatment options, including both surgical and non-surgical approaches, so you can make an informed decision about your care.

Preparation

If surgery is recommended, you will receive detailed written and verbal instructions regarding pre-operative preparation, including fasting requirements, medication management, hospital admission, and physiotherapy planning. The practice team will remain available to assist with any questions in the lead-up to your procedure.

3.

Procedure

Surgery is performed at an accredited private hospital using contemporary surgical techniques and careful pre-operative planning. Post-operative protocols focus on early movement, appropriate pain management, and monitored recovery in hospital. Length of stay varies depending on the procedure and individual circumstances.

4.

Recovery

Recovery involves structured rehabilitation, physiotherapy guidance, and scheduled follow-up appointments to monitor progress. Dr Inglis will review your recovery, wound healing, mobility, and overall function, adjusting your rehabilitation plan where appropriate to support safe and steady improvement.
